enrichment

This page is about activities included in the provision at HAF-funded Fit for All sessions which help participants to develop new skills, try out new experiences and have fun and socialise.

Fit for All sessions should provide fun and enriching activities that enable participants to:
• develop new skills or knowledge
• consolidate existing skills and knowledge
• try out new experiences
• have fun and socialise.

These opportunities will vary between sessions and individuals. They could include:

  • physical activities, for example, learning circus skills, yoga, horseriding, going swimming, dancing or adventure play
  • creative activities, for example, a drama workshop, music making, making kites or costumes or making and editing a video
  • environmental experiences, for example, sensory play, visiting an urban farm or forest school or learning survival skills
  • social experiences, for example, a community lunch, organising a shared day out or a picnic in the park.

Some providers will embed enrichment into all the sessions they deliver. Others might include a special enrichment activity once or twice per holiday period. In any case, the expectation is that enrichment helps participants to enjoy a balance of activities: physical, creative, social and environmental in an inclusive way.

Fit for All is able from time to time to provide groups with a small amount of funding to enable additional enrichment experiences which bring participants from different groups together, eg through a community lunch or a shared fun day of special activities in the park, or which otherwise extend the benefits of inclusion and social cohesion. Fit for All may also be able to help with access to special trips etc.
