Day Out at GLUE Garden

GLUE Garden is a great base for exploring, woodland den building, learning about food and growing, practising nature crafts, environmental art, mud play and more. The Garden is also the base of Birmingham’s GLUE Collective – a group of experienced community and play workers and artists with a strong commitment to inclusive practice (GLUE stands for Growing and Learning in Urban Environments). The group has nurtured the community garden on a patch of what was once wasteland in Northfield.

The GLUE Collective is a CQ Member and is offering other groups that are delivering Fit for All sessions the chance to visit GLUE Garden for free this summer. The site is wheelchair and pushchair accessible and there is plenty of parking. There is a disabled toilet and changing facilities are available. There will be GLUE Collective staff and volunteers on site, but groups will need to bring the appropriate ratio of adults to make sure young participants can enjoy the day out.

Groups can either spend a morning (10-1.30pm) or afternoon (1.30-4pm) at the garden on days that are free for visits: Tuesday 30 July, Wednesday 31 July, Thursday 1 August; and Tuesday 13 August and Wednesday 14 August. During August, the group is holding its SPARK Festival – celebrating the connections between play, exploration and creativity – with a day for SEND groups and families on Tuesday 7 August. You are invited to have a look around the site before you visit – on Monday 29 July or another time by arrangement.

The GLUE Collective is at GLUE Garden, 472 Shenley Ln, Northfield Birmingham B29 4HZ
