This Summer catch the Tube for free at Ackers Adventure – Birmingham’s outdoor activities centre based in Sparkbrook. Unlike its London namesake, the Birmingham Tube is a fun activity for anyone over 8 years old – it involves riding a ‘donut’ (based on the design of a tyre inner tube – from where the sport gets its name) down a ski slope.
Ackers is run by a local charity that exists to promote and engage people of all ages, abilities and disabilities in outdoor adventure. The charity is a member of CQ and is offering Fit for All groups and parents/carers the chance to bring young people tubing for free between 1-3pm on any and all of these days (subject to booking in advance):
- Wednesday 24 July, Tuesday 30 July and Wednesday 31 July
- Thursday 01 August; Tuesday 06 August and Wednesday 07 August
- Tuesday 13 August; Wednesday 14 August; Wednesday 21 August and Thursday 22 August
Groups can make an enquiry now and you can (if you want) customise your visit to Ackers, eg by including other activities and having lunch provided at reasonable cost – on top of the free tubing offer.
A maximum of 20 participants can be booked by groups and participants must be 8 years or older and must wear long sleeves, long trousers, gloves and suitable footwear e.g. trainers. Sessions must be booked in advance by groups now, or by parents/carers via the BIOB website in due course.
Ackers Adventure is at Golden Hillock Road, Sparkbrook, Birmingham B11 2PY
