Hamstead Hall Academy is a secondary school serving the Handsworth and Handsworth Wood areas of NW Birmingham. The Academy caters for approximately 1100 students across the range from 11 – 18 years and reflects the religious and cultural diversity of the area. The school is committed to inclusion and includes a SEND Resource Base for Cognition and Learning.
This summer, Hamstead Hall is organising an inclusive summer holiday club for 200 SEND, vulnerable and FSM eligible children. The club at Hamstead Hall will run over the first 4 weeks of the holidays for 4 days per week. The four hour sessions will run 10am – 2pm each day with each providing 200 places. Lunch will be provided by Change Kitchen at the school site. The club is open to any SEND, vulnerable or FSM eligible child in Birmingham regardless of which school they go to.
Activities
There is a wide range of things to get involved in at Hamstead Hall, including:

- forest school style activities
- mud kitchen
- arts and crafts
- drama
- orienteering
- archery
- golf
- cooking
- jewellery making
- team building
- camp fires etc.
Sessions include a significant focus on physical activity. This is provided for example in the form of field sports, races, games, challenges and competitions and forest school type activities.
Food
Lunch will be provided to participants by Change Kitchen. School food standards will be met and staff are trained in Level 2 Food Hygiene and Alleergy Awareness. Both the school and Chnage Kitchen understand and are aware of cultural factors in food, eating and cooking – including the particular needs of disabled children. Nutritional education will be incorporated into sessions through quizzes and demonstrations etc.
