Fit for All aims to help participants to develop new skills, try out new experiences and have fun and socialise through enrichment activities and a child-centred approach.
Fit for All sessions aim to provide fun and enriching activities that enable participants to:
• develop new skills or knowledge
• consolidate existing skills and knowledge
• try out new experiences
• have fun and socialise.
These opportunities will vary between sessions and individuals. Obviously, when providers deliver stand-alone community sessions that are open to anyone, the level of enrichment that can be provided is limited. Most FFA sessions, however, provide something more including:
- physical activities, for example, learning circus skills, yoga, horseriding, going swimming, dancing or adventure play
- creative activities, for example, a drama workshop, music making, making kites or costumes or making and editing a video
- environmental experiences, for example, sensory play, visiting an urban farm or forest school or learning survival skills
- social experiences, for example, a community lunch, organising a shared day out or a picnic in the park.
Some providers embed enrichment into all the sessions they deliver including through a child centred approach and high staff ratios. Others might include a special enrichment activity once or twice per holiday period.
Fit for All is able from time to time to provide groups with funding and/or opportunities to enable additional enrichment experiences, eg soft play and trampolining, ice skating, tubing, climbing, cookery lessons, animal experiences, magic and storytelling.
