Fit for All 2025/26

Fit for All is coordinated and managed by Children’s Quarter The aim is to provide play, youth, sports and arts activities and healthy meals during school holidays in sessions that include children and young people who are disabled/have special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and from families that are struggling for whatever reason. Childrens Quarter is a cooperative of nearly 100 community groups, schools and charities in and around Birmingham. Our members range from small parent-led groups to the regional branches of national charities and to schools in Birmingham and the West Midlands.

Bring it on Brum helps us make healthy meals and activities available We’re supported by Bring it on Brum and other funders, volunteers and supporters who help our member groups to run inclusive sessions for children and young people during term-end holidays. Bring it on Brum manages Holiday Activity and Food (HAF) funding for Birmingham City Council. HAF Funding comes from government’s Department for Education. Its primary aim is to provide healthy meals and activities for children and young people aged 5-16 who are eligible for school meals years during term end school holidays (at Easter, Summer and Christmas).

More than 40 Childrens Quarter member organsations work together to run hundreds of Fit for All sessions each year. Some sessions are for SEND or autistic young people and their families only. Most Fit for All sessions, however, are open to young people with SEND and to young people who are eligible for free school meals. Some of the sessions are for children who are vulnerable for a particular reason. Most of the 30,000 places Childrens Quarter members make available for disabled, vulnerable and disadvantaged young people each year are taken by families who are already involved with the groups that provide them. Staff and volunteers need time to get to know disabled and vulnerable young people in particular so that they can make sure their needs are interests are catered for. If you would like to get involved, have a look at the map below and see which groups may be delivering this year. We always try to leaves some sessions free for families who haven’t been involved so far, but these fill up very quickly.

At the moment, we are waiting to hear if we have been successful in raising funds to deliver sessions at Easter, Summer and Christmas 2025. The map below shows locations which have been used by Childrens Quarter Cooperative members to deliver Fit for All and ones we hope to use this year:
