Groups delivering Fit for All and Bring it on Brum involving children and young people with special needs and disabilities can help young people and families to discover circus skills for free with workshops at Birmingham’s space for circus – Circus Mash in Kings Heath.
The inclusive workshops at Circus Mash give SEND children and young people the chance to learn coordination and acrobatic skills. Classes are built around participants as individuals. Each week there is a chance to learn new skills including balance, juggling, plate-spinning, tight wire and much more.
Sessions run on Thursdays during August: 3rd, 10th, 17th and 24th:
- Mornings 10-12.30pm for children aged 5-8
- Afternoons 1-3.30pm for young people who are aged 9-17.
Sessions include a healthy meal for participants: lunch at 12 and tea at 3pm. Participants should commit to attending all four of the free sessions if they are able -and they should be accompanied to the first session by an adult that knows them.
There are just 12 places available: 6 in the morning session for 5-8 year olds; and 6 in the afternoon sessions for 9-17 year olds. Workshops will be at the Circus Mash base in the Old Church Hall, 2 Vicarage Road B14 7RA.
