Friction Arts SUMMER 2025

Join Friction Arts over July and August for:

  • the Cre@te Youth Festival 19-21 July (Monday 21st July is a HAF-supported session) at The Edge – Friction Arts refurbished Digbeth base
  • and for Art Club sessions on Wednesdays from 23 July to 20 August also at The Edge.

The Cre@te Youth Festival for young people (aged 8-18) and their families, features young Birmingham bands and artists including Not Soup, Kris, Evie L.A., KAP and Trevanee. There’s healthy food and snacks from The Active Wellbeing Society and Olga’s mobile kitchen. Also, roller jam, art, activism, gaming, workshops, cosplay – and everything is FREE! The entire event has been planned and brought to life by the talented young producers from Friction’s Art Club and the CREATE youth panel. Under 16s need to come with an adult.

Friction’s Art Club is a free and inclusive space for young people aged 8 and up, including SEND young people, to develop artistic skills. Led by professional contemporary artists, alongside a regular team of highly skilled staff, young people get to develop their skills in, for example:

  • Drawing/painting and other 2D techniques
  • Video and film-making and editing
  • Animation, stop-frame and digital
  • Photography
  • Sculpture and making
  • anything your imagination conjures up!
