Free tickets are available at venues across Birmingham for the 2023 International Blind Sport Federation (IBSA) World Games which runs from 14-27 August. Blind and partially sighted people are invited to try a range of inclusive sports during the Games at the University of Birmingham.
The 2023 World Games – sponsored by RNIB – is the largest high-level international event for athletes with visual impairment. More than 1250 competitors from 70 nations will be in Birmingham to contest them. Free tickets are available for spectators at events including:
Cricket – tickets for the men’s and the women’s cricket finals on 26 August at Edgbaston are free but need to be booked in advance
Tennis – from 23-27 August at Billesley Indoor Tennis Centre – free entrance
Archery – on 24 and 25 August at the University of Birmingham Athletics Track – free entrance
Chess – from 20-26 August at the University of Birmingham Staff House – free entrance.
You should check advice on the IBSA World Games 2023 website as although the events above are free, space may be limited. Tickets, including concessionary tickets, at other events at the games – including Football and Judo – are available from the website.
Blind and partially sighted people of all ages can try free taster sessions in inclusive sports including judo, tennis, blind football, goalball and archery at the British Blind Sport Activation Zone. The Zone will operate from 11am to 2pm on Monday 21 – Friday 25 August at University of Birmingham, Chancellor’s Court (by the Big Joe clock tower). Participants will also be able to get information about inclusive clubs and opportunities in the region.
